Others making a difference

A team of Staff and students who are studying Addictive Behavior Counseling at Youth With A Mission’s University Of the Nations are making a difference in communities worldwide. They are reaching out to alcoholics and drug addicted individuals and affected families, internationally.
They started off with a 3 month lecture phase in Chatel- Rolle- Switzerland in September 2011 and ended on December 16th 2011. The lecture phase consisted of 12 students and 6 staff members and had a visiting teacher for every 2 weeks. The outreach phase started on the 30th of December 2011 and will end on March 19th.
The Addictive Behavior Counseling School equips students to bring freedom and restoration to those who are in bondage because of Addictive Behaviors (compulsive lifestyles). It explores the physical, psychological, spiritual and social problems that result from addictions. The topics covered include: Roots of addictive behaviors, definitions and criteria for diagnosis, world addictions, skills for leading support and therapy groups, treatment models for addictions, working through grief, forgiveness and recovery along with other topics.
The team of participants are now in Madagascar and comprises of five members who are all from five different countries. Each individual (both staff and students) are required to raise their own financial support for them to be able to go and live in Madagascar for the next three months. Two of their staff members are still to raise their fees for their outreach in Madagascar. They need to raise $USD 4600 for the three month outreach phase. The fees includes: Housing- including water and electricity bills, food, and transport around Madagascar for the three months.
